About me

I’m Finn Slutter, a level design student from The Netherlands, studying Game Design and Production at Breda University of Applied Sciences. I have 3 years of game development experience with a game releasing on Steam this year.

Over the years I have gained experience in planning levels, creating block-outs, researching, sketching, and visual scripting to create interactive level elements. All to allow me to create engaging levels that fit the intended player experience.

Why level design?

Design has been a passion of mine as long as I remember from products, architecture, and games to film and cinematography. I found my love for game design in my previous study for Industrial Design Engineering where I did a minor in game design.

What made the difference for me in game design but specifically level design is the fact that you design for a player experience, using visual, audio, and technical problem-solving to facilitate the intended player experience.

Creating a playable space that immerses and entertains the player has been the most rewarding design work for me.

What else?

In my free time, I still love to tinker with 3D printers, laser cutters, and other tools after studying industrial design and working in a makers-space as an assistant for 2 years these tools have become a comfort space for me and one day I hope to have a workshop on my own that I can tinker in my free time.

Besides that I have really enjoyed bouldering for the last 2 years (in my opinion the perfect sport for game designers).
